Why didn't Amerindians keep Amerindian surnames and adopted Spanish surnames forced on them?
Argentina is around 95% Amerindian (check sources on wikipedia and other official data) but around 90% of all surnames in argentina are Spanish, and only about 5% amerindian.
Is there a historic reason for it?

thats because having a spanish surname makes someone have a 90% of probabilty of being amerindian, due to, you know, spanish men fucking amerindians

I'd rather have my question answered by professionals and/or scholars.
