They're good for teams various team sports, track and field shit like high jump, long jump, etc., and swimming. Aside from that, yeah, their only really evolutionary benefit is having a first impressions based edge on attracting a mate. The trade off is shorter lifespans, riddled with joint complications.
I know a 6 foot 6 guy, poor bastard can't even wear normal shoes and has been in an out of physio with joint issues. At least modern societies don't really require one to do a lot of physical labour in order to provide sustenance. It would have been shit to be born a lanklet back in the 1800s. As someone who is presumably larger than this fellow but only lifts at a gym, all I can assume is that if he is half my size I can probably lift more. If he is indeed somewhere in the vicinity of 6'/183cm 240lbs/109kg, then he can probably lift more.
