Why is it that everyone thinks everything's about wealth?

What has set europeans apart from other peoples is that european knew how to use resources. By the time they left europe during the age of discovery the rest of the world had more gold and more commodities than europe, but there was no use in they having all this "wealth" if they didn't know how to use it properly.

This has never been about wealth, european society has been successful in the past because of european ideals, culture, and tradition
