Our country is actually pretty fucked. In the North Island, Taupo could blow literally any day. It's eruption schedule is unpredictable and we have had a long period of no eruptions compared to past activity. (pic related)

In the South Island, that long mountain range is the Alpine Fault which produces massive earthquakes on a regular 300 year basis give or take a couple decades. It's been just over 300 years since the last rupture, meaning the South Island getting fucked in our life time is almost certain.
