A mayor of Mallorca asks Germany to stop sending "garbage tourists"
"The trash they're sending is not nice." With these words the mayor of Palma (Spain), Antoni Noguera, just chosen a week ago, has described some of the Germans who spend their holidays on the island of Mallorca, reports 'Diario de Mallorca'.
"It is a small part of tourism, but we ask the sending countries a bit of co-responsibility," continued Noguera. His words come after the violent fight that took place on Monday in the Mallorcan capital among German tourists.
"I can not imagine Palmares in the streets of Berlin doing this", nor to "groups of neo-Nazis", has been angered Noguera. The mayor requested a meeting with the German consul, Sabine Karola Lammersal, to talk about what happened and about the possibility of carrying out "citizenship campaigns".
Noguera has admitted that, despite being a minority, this type of behavior "causes residents to believe stereotypes and a worrisome Germanophobia", because the poor image offered by these few extrapolates to the rest of German tourism.
