I wonder what it's like to live in a remote Russian city like Irkutsk.

Any other cities are out of reach and you basically see the same things every single day, with the same view and even the most hidden spots in the city are already seen.

Do you want to buy something that's not in Irkutsk? Tough luck, the nearest relevant city is 500-1000 km away from you.

Such life must be very depressing.

Do they have 2-day Amazon prime shipping?
>>

>Do you want to buy something that's not in Irkutsk?
That's why people buy stuff online.
>>
>>76769976
They don't have Amazon at Russia at all

1) they're not consumeristcucks
2) they have shops
3) they can buy everything from chinks (online and offline)

its not different from anything else, except they have more (pure) nature, for example their summer houses have usually bigger land pieces
>>

>the nearest relevant city is 500-1000 km away from you

Not to mention, you need a visa to visit it.

But still, you're stuck in the same city, with the same views, the same places, the same everything. Once in a while, one place closes and another one opens up and you check that out, but that fun is soon gone.

Part of all the fun is to explore different cities with new things to see, but how can you do that when all other cities are a plane ride away hm

Still better than living in a village with 15k population, like I do.
>>
>>76770301
I would literally just pack my bags and move to St Peter or Moscow the minute I turned 18

You're talking about Beijing, right?
>>

>doesn't know that ulan ude is 500km away from irkutsk
>>
>>76770373

I should've done the same, but I didn't.
>>
>>76770244
>you're stuck in the same city, with the same views, the same places, the same everything
You're describing the lives of 75% of russians which don't have enough money to afford travelling.
>>
>>76770244
dunno, im living in moscow and i never visited another russian city for more than a hour i think (even tho we have cities and towns here)

they're equally ugly and boring and its unnecessary
>>
>>76770685
But they have money to buy expensive clothes and beauty products (women)?
>>
>>76770491

Ulan ude is neither relevant nor city. I could say the same about any place to the east of the Urals.
>>
>>76770737
Clothes and cosmetics are essential. Travelling is not.
>>
>>76769976
Amazon doesn't exist even in Poland (we have Allegro instead) and you ask for it in Russia lol
>>
>>76770739
I describe relevancy as being medium-sized population wise and a city.
>>
>>76770244
>But still, you're stuck in the same city, with the same views, the same places, the same everything.

I live in a relatively big city, but I have never moved out of it, moreover I've never been anywhere further than 30 kilometers away from my *literal* place of birth.
>>
>>76770733
>>76770244
Same. I've never been anywhere outside my hometown and Moscow. And the trip to Moscow was paid by the university, I wouldn't make it there on my own.
>>
>>76769976

Amazon is not available in Russia.

I have never been to Moscow.
Do you think should I feel ashamed that I didn't manage to visit the capital of my native country at least once?
>>
>>76771144
Go there, visit all the tourist's attractions in one day (MGU, The Red Square, VDNKh) and then never come back again since you've seen everything it has to offer. Outside of famous locations it just yet another shithole which Russia has plenty of.
>>
Not so many people are fond of travelling and learning anything new.

isn't that city where radiation levels are incredibly high?
>>
>>76769919
Went to Irkutsk. It's not that bad really. Surely it's in the middle of nowhere, but you have shops, bars, restaurants just like anywhere else. Also the Baikal lake is nearby and is quite comfy.
>>
>>76771544

No, why would it be high there?
That's the the cities of West Siberia where radiation levels are higher than average - because of Siberian nuclear power plant in Tomsk, uranium enrichment facility in Seversk, radiochemical plant and nuclear physics research institute in Novosibirsk and coal mines with very high concentration of radiocarbon near Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk.
>>
>>76771436
>tfw i do
It's not a village formally though but a town of 20000 people.
Not that bad if you take out of consideration the fact that there's nothing to do except drinking.
>>
Talking about remote cities... 90% of Ulaanbaatar inhabitants have never been out of it as there's literally nowhere to go. The same goes for Mongolians in general, 99% haven't been to a different country.
>>
>>76772017
>there's nothing to do except drinking

Like almost everywhere in Russia.
>>
>>76772103
Well, at least there are some education and job opportunities in the bigger cities, contrary to where I live.
>>
>>76769919
Why would it be depressing to live in one of the most beautiful places on Earth? Baikal is amazing.
>>
>>76772769
>Baikal is amazing

Indeed, but we're talking about the city of Irkutsk, not the lake 40 kilometers away from it.
>>
>>76769919
It's the same as living in Moscow except climate and the fact they have huge crime rates and shitty salaries. There are many other cities around and they have great landscapes. All the major supermarket networks are presented here, China is close so ordering shit online is even better than in Moscow. Also 500km is a meme distance in Russia.
>>
>>76769919
>500 km away
>remote
Lolwut? It's only 6 hours on a train.
>>
>>76770244
>you're stuck in the same city, with the same views, the same places, the same everything
It's a case for me with Moscow too, it's a case for majority of Russians, we are poor, the only travels we can afford - save money to go to Turkey for a week once in a few years
