Because Edward VIII was a Racist Nazi and wanted Britain to join forces with Hitler, but The Royal Family told him to fuck off and forced him to abdicate the throne and ship him to The Bahamas an Island full of black people as punishment.

Britain remained neutral then and told Germany that they could kill as many jews as they want, but whatever they do, don't cross into Belgium who was also neutral at the time, because they feared the Nazis would walk over them next and they didn't want to be apart of it.
