Japanese is spoken in one country by a very insular people. Other languages are spoken in dozens of countries which are open to foreigners.

I just find it odd. There's no reward in it.

Japanese is a useless language and most people will think you are a weaboo. There is nothing to gain if you don't plan to move to Japan.

Japan is a modern media giant, for any modern tech savvy person that enjoys tv, animation, movie, music, etc. (which I assume is true for most people who find themselves browsing 4chan) you'll be swimming with so much good shit knowing Japanese that your backlog will be wrecked more than Sasha Grey's asshole.
