Why no religion fast for real? Protestants don't fast at all, catholics just stop eating meat for a month and muslims skip breakfast and lunch and have bad breath all day. Why not really fast? Especially since its considered healthy for the body.

Because civilized people realized that it was not such a good idea and relegated fasting either to symbolic acts like not eating certain food in Lent, or by having clerics fast "for real" on behalf of the community
