Expressions and sayings time !
Each one of you post an expression or saying. Others try to find something equivalent in their language and explain it.
Example

Literally "punchinello secret", "open secret" in english. Something everyone knows but no-one exposed it publicly. It originated in on of the commedia del'arte plays, where Punchinello says a secret to everyone and not to share said secret. Everyone knows the secret and think they're the only ones to know it.
> Se retrouver gros jean comme devant
Literally 'to find yourself "gros Jean" like before'. A gros Jean is a dumbfuck. You didn't get what you've been told or you find yourself in a dead-end, like before the explanation. This one is old and unused but funny imho.
> Pierre qui roule n'amasse pas mousse
"A rolling stone gathers no moss". Someone who moves around a lot don't get lasting relationships / money (?).
