If you move somewhere else. If you travel to certain countries often. If you want to read more literature or history.
I've been taking Spanish in college for the last year and half only because it's an easy GPA booster worth 5 credits a semester. I will likely never use it after this summer term is over. None of the countries (new world countries, Spain might be alright) that speak it are places I would ever want to live.
Plus speaking Spanish as a white person is just weird in the US. The only people who speak it are poor immigrants or their first generation kids who resent and dislike you (for being white) anyway.
If Spanish weren't so easy, I'd have chosen something more interesting like Russian even if just for the /lit/.
