The letter grade just signifies what percentage grade you fall under, the percentage is what actually determines your grade. Usually 65% or under is a failed grade, or F, and then it goes up from there. 66-75D, 76-80C and so on.

My university uses A, B, C, D, F for grading performance on courses. 0 to 59 is F and it you'll have to do it again, 60 to 69 is D, 70 to 79 C, 80 to 89 B and 90 to 100 A.

The A-F system directly translates to a 0-10 system though, or a 0-100 system as is more common in the US but is the same system just scaled by 10.

A: 90-100
B: 80-89
C: 70-79
D: 60-69
F: 0-59

It's still 0-10 just not entirely linear. It's got a reverse log scale from 0-59 after which point it's linear up to 100.

It's a bit like the IV curve for a transistor.

All numbers can have + or - variation, like 5 can also be 5+ or 5-.
In universities we use just "passed or didn't passed", in some there are also different systems all over the place. For example, In my uni we have electronic shit with 1-10 system. If you had less than 8.5 average, you dont get scholarship. If you have less than 7 in any discipline or haven't passed 3 exams in any discipline, or have more than 3 works indebted in any discipline\more than 5 overall, you GTFO. All tests, works and laboratory tasks are marked, and in some disciplines you get mark after every daily study.
