But we are intellectually and culturally superior, in general. I've met quite a few Americans and usually liked them. Very nice, friendly, polite people but usually dumb as a bag of hammers. I had to make a considerable mental downshift to converse on a level they would understand and keep up with. A generalisation, of course, but broadly true. How many Brits believe every word of the Bible or deny global warming or approve of abhorrent foreign policies? You flag up our worst chavs and pakis whereas they are pretty much the norm in the US.
