Tenochitilan is an impressive city, and the Aztecs were certainly civilised to maintain a city to be one of the largest of the world in its peak. but the architecture is overrated, compared to cities of the Middle-East and Europe, and they were not even literate
Spaniards can apologize by sending qts here.

If your genes werent strong, thats no is our problem
Desiccation was inevitable, a lot of people died by diseases, there was no labor to maintain the levees, this caused successive floods, causing more deaths and the loss of fertile lands, since this mass of water was SALAD, reason why it was a stupid thing to pretend to continue with that system

The water inside the city didn't have any salt, that's where they cultivated their food, inside man-made floating islands (chinampas).

Inside city not, but most of the lake complex was, and when there was a lack of work to maintain the levees, all that water was mixed, which made to lose much of the arable land

>but the architecture is overrated
By what standards?
Because considering that no building in the Old World matches pic related I would argue it was the other way around. It's a shame no building of Tenochitlan survived.
