10 years ago getting antidepressants was almost impossible here, they were only prescribed for hardcore psychotic cases.
Then the health system discovered pills are much cheaper than actual therapy, so nowadays you can get them even from the GP.

It's not a question of happiness, it's a question of affordability. The more disposable income, the more anti-depressants are bought, all the rich nations have seen drastically increased use and Swedes are very rich indeed.
