You will be in Provence, expect to meet some people a huge provençal accent. They like banter and they are a bit lazy. I know nothing about Arles, I'm living further east, but it's still in the P.A.C.A region and especially in the Bouches-du-Rhône so there's quite a lot of maghrebi immigrants. So some people happen to be quite racist there, but not everyone. There also isn't as much of black people as in Paris, much more maghrebis. Don't trust them any of them though, arab or african.
