Japan actually has top tier nature, it's very mountainous and Japs love going outdoors I've heard so even if the coast is crowded to hell the interior is pretty comfy

Fertile land, climate isn't extreme... You have to look at a map of European density to see there are actually places with less people. Like England is crowded but Scotland is pretty much empty so it balances itself, France is crowded in the north and the east but the mountains in the center and the Alps aren't, Spain is lightly populated...

Well I guess it's because they are all concentrated along the coast, on a big map it looks red as fuck but a closer look shows the clear spots
It's thanks to their mountains tho, if they were just a big plain they'd be even more full, take a look at Bengladesh for instance
