Great Patriotic War is not the same as WWII, it only refers to the Soviet-German war, which started on the 22 of June of 1941 and ended on the 9th of May of 1945.

For example, the Soviet invasion of Manchuria in August 1945 is a part of WWII, but not of Great Patriotic War which was already over.
