I'm thinking of moving to China (specifically Hong Kong), but the government's position on certain issues worries me.

For example, the 'Document Number 9' lists the following 7 concepts as 'western dangers' and forbids their teaching in schools:
>constitutional democracy
>universal values of human rights
>civil society
>pro-market neo-liberalism
>media independence
>historical nihilism [criticisms of past errors]
>questioning Reform

Do you think the Chinese government is likely to liberalise politically over the next 10-20 years?

Do you think it matters if you live under a government you fundamentally disagree with?

adv china is a youtube channel about western dudes living in mainland china
>>
The CCP increasingly has a hard time justifying their existence to young people, so they have in recent years fallen back on the old, tired shtick of foreign policy adventures in the South China Sea and whatnot.
>>
move to taiwan. why do you bother living there being worried about ccp

>to liberalise politically over the next 10-20 years?
it will never ever happen

>Do you think it matters if you live under a government you fundamentally disagree with?
theyve censored anything. you cant forecast what kind of thing would be censored. it all of a sudden begins.
>>

>move to Taiwan

I only know Cantonese, I can't speak Mandarin.

But I am considering Singapore as a possible alternative.
>>
>>75504365
Go to Singapore then. Don't move to China if you intend to subvert their way of life with western ideals. It is their country, after all: perhaps constitutional democracy or neoliberal markets are not correct for the Chinese people
>>
>>75504432
It are always people from English speaking countries that come here and then start SJW shit.

I can imagine how Chinese would feel if you start that shit there.
>>
>>75504432
Why did you move to USA then Chang ? You are just as subversive right here with this cultural relativism actually.

Unironically reported you for illegal content (you are obviously a chinese spy)
>>
>>75504596
Exactly. If you are a guest in someone else's country you must behave like it and refrain from stirring up shit politically. Would you litter in your host's kitchen? No? Then don't engage in subversive political activities. Western liberals are just as bad as Muslims in this regard.
>>
>>75503572
And this, children, is why China will never be a superpower except in the deluded minds of people like Henry Kissinger.
>>
>>75504686
This is a clearly anti-freedom of speech discourse and therefore anti-American and subversive

My name is Matthew [Italian name] and I have American ancestors going back to the 17th century. Regardless, it is still my opinion that Western democracy should not be forced upon countries where it is culturally incompatible.

i dont know the actual differences between mandarin and cantonise. taiwanese /int/ poster would be able to help you

i mean, taiwan is the best country, the definition of "country" aside, in the han-chinese sphere. they have pretty much the same democratic values as the west and have actually cherished it.

you wouldnt have special big problems in living in singa if you didnt have a plan to make/produce some aggressive artistic stuff or to write such critiques/texts in public.

You should better think about China's possibility of setting war on American allies
The proportion of real estate investment in China's GDP is 25% even for the latest indicator
That is, the Chinese government knows the collapse of the Chinese economy but can not control the real estate bubble
When this bubble breaks, it is time for China to strike war
>>
>>75504937
>moral decline
To decline you have to be at a level. Chinese have no morals, they've been completely brainwashed by their government.

I pray for the catholic faith to spread further in China.
Catholic morals and teaching of Christ is what Chinese society desperately needs.

Is there a word to describe an opinion which is formulated only because it is contrarian and 'edgy', and is said only to get attention?
>>
>>75505006
China is only nominally communist; it is de facto a heterogeneous economy which contains many zones of relatively liberal commerce. That being said, who are we to decide what is best for the future of China? Are we Americans really so much more free, who are constantly surveilled by opaque bureaucracies and swindled as a people into endless wars of imperialism?
>>
>>75505154

It's truly incredible how hostile Westerners become toward a proud and ancient civilization just for its espousal of different values and customs.

The sexual revolution has destroyed the West's ability to maintain native population growth. As the future belongs to those who show up, this I think was not a very beneficial revolution.
>>
>>75505523
>proud and ancient civilization just for its espousal of different values and customs.
Communist China? Massive fucking kek. Communists tried and still try to eradicate everything that has something in common with tradition.
>>
Hong Kong still has more freedoms compared to the mainland. Beijing has been slowly chipping away at them though. HK used to have bookstores with material criticizing the CCP but they are slowly vanishing. One bookstore owner got abducted from HK and wound up in the mainland. People were outraged of course. He showed up on TV saying that he went of his own free will to help mainland police with an investigation. All the while his passport was still in HK, meaning he would not have been able to cross the border into the mainland.
>>
>>75505764

excuse me have you seen Japanese birthrates?
>>
>>75505764
Its mostly South and East Europe and Germany who's population growth is too low. In north and west europe the problem is not that big. And it cant be explained by migrants.

I think it has more to do with peoples financial inability to move out of their parents homes.
>>
>>75505852
Yes, they have become sterile due to Americanization.
>>
>>75505706
Have you heard of the Cultural Revolution and the Four Olds ? They basically wanted to get rid of anything that they perceived as holding China back or being in opposition with Marxist thought. Buddhist temples were torn down, Confucius' grave was vandalized, tombs of emperors profaned and books burned. They even wanted to fuck up the Forbidden City but Zhou Enlai saved it. In the 90' they started rebuilding and restoring old sites. Funniest thing is that a lot of Chinese artifacts have been saved by the black market.
>>
>>75505891

i like cmilk but they're all pretty retarded and not knowledgeable of anything beyond mundane day-to-day life. also the south african guy has some narcissism issues and most of their friends are annoying and/or retards.

oh and the south african guy (serpentz?) has been doing click-baity bullshit videos for like the past year. Quality and legitimacy in his channel has dropped a lot.

my point is that you shouldn't trust their deductions regarding economy/politics/culture.
>>
>>75506699
Yeah once they went "official"/made the channels their day jobs, the content went to shit.

I don't think they realized how quickly you run out of ideas when you make new shit every other day. Now serpentza just rehashes old videos, while the new ones are all very similar and worn with the same content and sermons that they've gone over in 5 other videos.

not to mention I hate watching how cmilk treats his wife and serpentza is getting increasingly political and preachy, no matter what he says to the contrary

You'd have to assume history books in China mention anything about those. I guess he could ask his grandma.

Confucius' grave was never "vandalized".

Also, the cultural revolution ended 41 years ago.
>>
>>75503572
>Do you think the Chinese government is likely to liberalise politically
Yes, because of a concept known as performance legitimacy. In authoritarian or totalitarian societies, the general population will only be willing to put up with their shit so long as the perception is that the regime is improving their lives. China has adopted capitalism heavily in the last 40 years, which exposes them more to the boom and bust cycle. The moment things go bust for the middle class Chinese citizen, they'll get angry and demand a political solution.

Civic democracy tends to weather these boom and bust cycles better because we don't have faith in -the- regime but rather our systems of electing regimes. Votes of no confidence in particular (not that the US has them) are good for blowing off pressure.

It mostly correlates but Germany is the big outlier. In terms of countries in green on the first graph.

At first I thought Catholicism would explain why France and Ireland are much more fertile than they ought to be, but Italy, Spain, and Poland still have quite low birthrates despite being Catholic. So clearly that isn't it. It seems that moving out of the parents' home is the strongest indicator but that doesn't stop Germans from being cold flaccid autists.
