German patriotism also means stagnating wages and btfo everybody else's industry and living standards. Then you counter with some gibs and buy out social peace through fear because "look how bad everybody else is".

There isn't much of a point in taking care of people that don't want to take care of themselves and will never contribute. Europeans constantly wrongly assume our populations think and behave similarly enough that their social programs would work well here. It's hard to fail here and if you do it's usually because your parents fucked up raising you.
