The attacks left a powerful image, despite being inefficient. They could have killed a lot more people.

I remember we had a minute of silence in school the next day.
Of course it was all over the TV for days and weeks and the solidarity was great in the beginning but after a few years of war and especially after the Iraq war began perception of the US gradually turned sour.
George Bush was probably the most hated US president of the last 50 years here.
