A bunch of students and old baby boomer hippies.

Look, the main problem is mass immigration. They cannot see the damage it does to societies. We have to have a far more strict and controlled immigration system.

Also, get rid of the stupid idea that there's no borders and we're all one race. This type of globalisation is cancerous.

Don't worry, once elections roll around they'll be replaced by enlightened democratic leaders like Borisov, Babis, and Vucic who embrace Europe.

The fact that they got so close to gaining leadership is enough. I don't even like those parties, but I fucking hate how detached the elites have become. If things don't change (i.e not create a better immigration system) those populist parties aren't going anywhere, they'll only gain more support.

I don't know much about Balkans, so I don't have any opinion on Vucic or Borisov.

Babiš is a special case though. No coherent ideology, wants to run the state like a business. He's more euroskeptical than the current Czech PM, a social democrat Bohuslav Sobotka.

Those countries are turning into soft autocracies. They can't be Putin's Russia while they're still in the EU.

Judiciary, public media, independent academia are under pressure. You can't have rule of law without independent courts.
>>
>>74921821
The ones youre apparently not looking at. PiS has the highest popularity of any party, to the effect that it will have a majority should elections happen now.
>>

*They can't be as oppressive as Putin's Russia
>>
>>74920868
True, but it was reported today that the EU is still set on Hungary re-settlling 1200-something refugees.
As long as the EU keeps pushing agendas like this, Orbán can put up his show of fighting the evil Brussels bureocrats on forced immigration. And election is in a little less than a year. He can drag this out until that.
Obviously there are other things that will be steering the course of the campaign and other things that shape their popularity, but this is a big factor in the average joe's mind to keep them voting Fidesz.

They do have independent courts, but the whole court system is so disfunctional over half the population is dissatisfied. That's why there are reforms and allegations, mostly from the opposition, that they are breaking the rule of law.

Orbán lost some voters to Jobbik after backing down in the CEU row.

There's no guarantee that Orbán's eventual successor will be from a democratic part of the opposition.

It's a nice deflection by Fidesz but Hungarians should be more worried the vast corruption going on in their country. It's a shame EU doesn't put more pressure on them regarding corruption.

I'm aware m8.
Yet majority of people have no idea about the scale of corruption going on, those media outlets that reach most people are Fidesz controlled. There are a few online news sites, but the average countryside person doesn't read those.
And even if the news of corruption reach people, they just react like "oh but the previous ones were corrupt too', 'at least it's going to Hungarian people now' etc.

One of the biggest online news sites, Origo was bought a few years ago by groups close to Fidesz, it is basically just a propaganda site now.
The state media, whose funding reached never before seen hights under Fidesz is also nothing but a mouthpiece for the party. And for some people, it is the primary, if not only source of information.
The county newspapers (most of them) were bought by Orbán's biggest oligarch, and see above.
One of the opposition newspapers, Népszabadság (which was used to be owned by the socialist party) also got bought by this same oligarch, and was shut down immediately, the reason being that it had financial problems and was unprofitable (duh, then why did he buy it...).
These are just some examples that were fairly recent.

we sorta are free but

the state is too strong, like in communism
we have like 4? state televisions, what for, an entire news channel, ala america

the state controls the distribution of the EU money, infrastructure projects, its buys and sells alot of shit, its the biggest factor in the economy

the state or close to the state businessmen purchases newspapers, online media, legally getting control over these

they havent ruled out anything, but they slowly and steadily get in everywhere

meanwhile in reasonable time, we will run out of doctors (freshly graduateds leave), manual labor (too low wages), and if nothing changes we will be 8million instead of 10, and every 3rd family lives under minimal living standards
>>
Problem in Poland is that we got kaczynski with pis and tusk with po, and both parties are same bullshit with minor difference in religion and eu.
