Any thoughts?
Good, bad?

Why would you bike through the Rhein-Ruhr area? It's one of the biggest and ugliest urban agglomerations.

Have fun
The longest bicycle tour that I did was across the Alps but this is another category
>>
>>74851244
This looks like a really dumb plan and coming to England just to cycle through London is probably one of the most retarded things I've ever heard of.
>>
>>74851244
You should really consider going through the Netherlands, beautiful, fantastic people, and the coolest landbridge ever made.

They have fantastic bike-roads aswell, you should really not miss out.
>>
wouldn't it be easier to swim from italy's heel to greece instead of the frills
>>
>>74851244
>use bike
>not going to bike country
>>
I bet you will get a flat tire about 2km from your home and suffer a moral defeat and just sit at home drinking finnish low quality pilsner.
>>
>>74852228
>>74852245
Netherland is bike country because it is so fuckinf flat. Like Belgium and north of France. Horrible landscapes.
>>
>plan a bike trip
>travel through major population centers instead of beautiful landscapes
>>
>>74851244
how the fuck are you supposed to bicycle over the sea?
>>
>>74852228
>They have fantastic bike-roads aswell, you should really not miss out.
This.
They probably have the best cycling infrastructure in Europe.
>>
>>74852361
build up speed and jump

The sea is frozen there.

Why would you bicycle through a boring swedish forest?
>>
>>74852401
in italy?
>>
>>74852415
>boring forest
Sounds like sour grapes to me.
>>
>>74851244
I agree with the others fammelam.
Skip London in favor of going through Netherlands if you are on bike.
>>
>>74851244
Why are you avoiding THE bycicle capital of the world? Literally every road has pink bycicle paths and roads. It just amazes me
>>
>>74851244
Russian part will be tough hehehe. Literally zero infrustructrue for bikes

Why not go through Serbia and not the coast of Croatia etc. Should be allot more beautiful. Also I've heard there are still migrants going north in the Balkans. Should maybe check what routes they take.
>>
>>74852727
That was what I was planning to do, but my usual hiking buddies ain't really up for it.
I got altitude sickness last time so I'm staying away from mountains this year

It's just that I want to see German cities, I know some german but I've never been in Germany. I basically took the straightest route from Berlin to Aachen

>>74852220
>>74852479
London isn't my primary target in the UK, I'm aiming for Oxford and after Oxford turn south to Portsmouth

>>74852180
Thanks, my longest trip this far has been some 3000 km when I spent a month criss-crossing Finland, this will be about 7000 km long (including ferries) so it's gonna be a push. But as always it's worth it

>>74852228
>>74852245
>>74852516
>>74852373
I've ever travelled to three places outside Finland and they are Estonia, Switzerland and Netherlands and I'm kind of aiming to see places I haven't been in before. But sure if I have time I could pay Holland a visit after Aachen, going a bit north before turning south to France

>>74852361
By ferry

>>74852415
Yeah I've been thinking about that, but I just don't know if I have the time to go through Norway

>>74852700
Pic related. This is Laplands summer

>>74852652
It's allright, in Finland I've mostly driven on the side of car roads. How are the roads on the Karelian isthmus?

>>74852287
Possible

>>74852982
I've been thinking about this too and that's why I'm actually staying away from the Croatian coastline, but it's true that I have no clue what routes the migrants are using. Have to check that out
>>

I just spent a week in Aachen, it's pretty nice desu

I doubt the small portion of Russia you will bike trough will be pleasant.
Beyond that, seems good.
>>
>>74851244
nothing like biking in the adriatic sea
>>
>>74853722
Mm, I'm mostly going through to see the old Finland and the town where my grandfather was a priest before the war
I've heard St. Petersburg is an interesting place, gonna see the eremitage

Didn't even come to my mind
I've never really been interested in Iberian culture or found Spain or Portugal very desirable places
Also I know french and some italian but I don't understand the Iberian languages
Maybe I should pay there a visit, but not on this trip

>>74855772
>>74855820
>we gotta joker over here
the trip will take a little over two months, I'll be using ferries/other vehicles when needed
>>
How are you going to navigate?

are you doing it alone?

and are you gonna carry the stuff you need for 2 months on a bike?

You just keep hitting them pedals with your feet. It's comfy enough as long as the weather is favorable. And even if it's bad, you're gonna be miserable but you'll live.

how much money do you bring with you?

Be careful in Poland. Nationalists are at rise. You should be fine if you travel by the edge of sea since there are the most touristic cities/towns and people should be more friendly.
>>
how do you fuckers navigate

>Beautiful, where is this from?
Upper Normandy.

>Also checking your setup, what's in the red bag?
Sleeping bag, pillow, clothes, foodstuff, basic tools for bike repair...

>>74856313
I cycled across Poland last year and didn't have any problems. People were noice despite being unable to hold basic conversations in English.

>>74856309
>do you sleep in a tent at night?
I do bring a tent on bike trips. But often I'm too lazy to pitch my tent at night and just lay myself down to sleep on my sleeping pad where it feels reasonably safe and if the weather is good.

>>74856309
>how much money do you bring with you?
I usually spend about 10-15€ each day, which includes accomodation (which I rarely pay for due to having a tent).

>what do you eat?
Stuff from supermarkets.
>>
>>74856638
you lock the bike every time you sleep?

Map. Pen and paper. Memorize/write down major places, so you got a reference in terms of signs.
