Is there any country where the word "sleep" can be used as a synonym for "die"?
Just heard someone say something along the lines of "Go sleep idiot" and wondering if it should be taken as offensive or not

Meant to say language instead of country
fug
i mean, if the context is right any word can be used to mean anything. 'to be put to sleep" is an idiom we use for getting pets euthanized.

If someone tells me to go to sleep, then it's either my Mom, or one of my friends is telling me that I'm shitfaced drunk.

Yes in portuguese the word "Dormir" means to sleep and to die as in "ele dormiu con os peixes". We also have a word for die that you can also use for sleeping as in deep or havy sleeping "apagar". And yes sending someone to sleep can be an offense "Vai dormir"

Yes but in portuguese we can also use the word "Apagar" to mean grape juice and other types of sweet drinks. It's a bit complicated dont over think it to much.
