Actually, I think the American situation wasn't too different from the Italian situation in Ethiopia. In both cases, the superior power chose to withdraw.

Although, and no offense to Italians, because I love Italy, I think we can all agree that Italy was in a far weaker position when fighting Ethiopia than the US was fighting Vietnam. And Vietnam was in a much stronger position than Ethiopia was. Italy withdrew because of military/economic concerns, the US withdrew because of political concerns. In both cases, it's a withdrawal, and I'd never mock Italians for their failure in Ethiopia, but still, the situations are not entirely comparable.

I don't know why this other jackass with our flag keeps posting old stories about the Italians being shit soldiers. The Italians were forced to serve a fascist, honestly, doing a bad job should be a point of pride.
