Do not have an IQ lower than 80. Learning languages ( that are not that different from yours) is the easiest thing ever.

I dunno about you, but living in the native country of the language you're trying to learn is pretty efficient. especially if they have a large english speaking population and you like talking to people. you just pick up the language eventually.

Start learning the 2000 most used words, those make up 90% of normal conversation/written text. Use memorise for this, you can usually find a frequency list online. If your target language has genders, start learning them immediately alongside the words themselves.

Then proceed to buy a decent grammar book, which you should follow.

Try watching movies and perhaps find a native or another eager learner to help you (there are websites/subreddits for that), try to stimulate each other to keep each other motivated.

While we are on the topic of Reddit: there's usually a subreddit for your target language which has resources, also take a look at the /int/ sticky.

You can use Duolingo / pirate Rosetta Stone, but don't expect wonders.

If you use the language you don't forget the language. It's that easy. You just gotta use it regularly
