Some time ago I went with my Russian then girlfriend to a restaurant. She apparently enjoyed the meal very much as after the meal she started licking her plate.
I must have stared at her with open mouth, because she looked at me with a questionable gaze and she looked visibly shaken.
Her expression demanding an explanation, I told her the cook would probably love her, but the rest of the restaurant would probably frown at her. And I had to explain to her why licking your plate here isn't considered good manners if done in a public place, like a restaurant, and tbqh I felt like I was destroying something purely innocent and beautiful while at it, it felt like crushing a flower and I regretted opening my mouth.
So, is it normal in your country to lick your plate clean when in a restaurant, folks? Am I just a stuck up dickface?
