EU isn't a united Europa.
Its Francogermany. So France, Germany, and all the nations of those languages around it.
But France isn't exporting anything but cars, and the same is true of Germany. So they are basically wasting an entire union, by not doing cultural export.

On the top of that, its ignoring the systematic corruption in the post Soviet countries, and the eternal corruption in the southeren states. And its willing to negotiate with Turkey, when Turkey isn't willing to show good faith back to it.


So i wouldn't say EU is a failed project, but its showing cracks, and could easly lose the entire south, and Scandinavia + Baltic states overnight, if it shows long term weakness.
