What would happen if white people had to live near the equator in tropical climate without modern comforts and technology?
How long would it take for them to develop health and skin problems? If they covered themselves in red mud like certain African tribes do, would it help any?

White people simply aren't meant to live in conditions like this but we do it anyway

But Australia isn't even anywhere near the equator. And don't most people live on the south of the continent that's supposedly temperate? You seem to be getting about as much sun as we do in Europe in Sydney and Melbourne according to pic related.
Also take note how on your map skin cancer after Australia is most prevalent in the U.S, Canada and Europe where Europeans and their descendants live. Maybe it's not your continent that's at fault but it's a thing white people are generally susceptible to?

It's the weak ozone layer that's the problem

Skin cancer and skin colour isn't really related to the equator, but to ultraviolet light, especially UVB.
Basically, your ancestors' skin colour is determined by a reasonable balance between getting enough UV light for dat dere Vitamin D and getting not enough for dat dere cancer.
Light people in dark people places now need less sunlight than their ancestors, dark people in light people places need more sunlight or they get rickets and other Vitamin D deficiency diseases (which are the dark people versions of skin cancer).

Virtually every summer day in Australia has a extreme UV index
>>73956723
We get way more UVB here than in Europe.

Not even summer, the only time it's not extreme is winter or on occasion if you're lucky. It's literally always extreme or just below.
