Basically is the Egyptians had more genetic affinity with the Levant until sometime after the Roman period where there was an increase in sub saharan african admixture.

Ancient Egyptians express affinity to "natufians" which were basically people from the southern levant, they also had some anatolian/iranian admixture

But Ancient Egyptians are much more closely related to Israelites and North Africans than they were to People from the Arabian peninsula (back then ,Arabs were limited to the peninsula and the middle east was occupied by other people).

Well Egyptians even in there paintings look different from the Levant and "Libya"(the rest of north africa). I'm sure you've seen the picture with the 4 different races depicted by the egyptians.

In the study though Egyptians don't really group with North Africans or Levantines though which I think makes sense. They group with Natufians, who were basically the ancient people of the southern levant before they were displaced by modern Levantines
