Yeah, but the important thing is that Humanity managed to draw out the war long enough for that to happen.

The Mass Effect series is just one protracted "Humanity, fuck yeah!". Shepard swanning onto a new planet, solving problems that not a single other person(s) in the galaxy can deal with, and then flying away again with every weapon and squadmate that isn't nailed down.

all the alien races have been technologically stagnant for a while

by the time of mass effect 1, tech for the rest of the aliens hasn't significantly advanced for over 1000 years, discovering beacons, and relays is designed by the reapers to be a sort of "end game" technology
>>
>>73855086
>No, it was pushed by the Reapers too.

true, but the only reason reapers selected humanity as their harvest race was due to their "high level of genetic variability compared to other races" and shepard, I don't think mass effect potrays your regular humans as "better" than regular aliens

I tend to prefer the ones where Humanity were the ones who were attacked first, got beat around the place for a few years, and then banded together to turn the tables. Or the ones where Humanity is so incredibly outmatched yet outsmarts the enemy in the end by expertly playing the few cards at their disposal (old school Halo did this very well).

>>73855670
I think we should finish the job we started in ME1 and wipe out the Batarians.

Speaking of haircuts. I live in a rural area and just pop into my nearest town for a haircut whenever. €10, 10 minutes and out the door.
Barber shops in cities these days seem to have gotten very fancy? Lot of art and shite on the walls, very vintage look and all. Normies also seem to care a lot about fashion and how they look nowadays. "Going out tonight lads, have to go shave my head in a very specific way".

Something a mate and I talked about recently is why normies go in in groups to get their haircuts like it's some social event. Madness

>~15 Antifa turn up

>take all the flyers and throw them in the road
>all gets photographed
>run like bitches
So for suppressing free expression, damaging private property and littering, they go to a meeting in the UK of Antifa and get an award for standing up to "those bullies"
Considering the few anti-immigration groups we have here are having an Antifa presence is pointless, I've met a few who call themselves anarchists whilst espousing Marxist slogans and bitching there dole will be taken off them if they don't get a job. Just a bunch of angry idiots unwilling to earn a living and using the virtue signalling as a reason to mooch off the state, which they also claim to oppose. They drive me crazy and cannot be reasoned with.
>>
>>73874527

It irks me that anti-fa claim to be anarchists when what they want is fundementally opposed to all tenets of anarchism.

They're big gubmint communists who think gubmints are bad but also want all the benefits a government provides.

Want protection for minorities, but don't want police. Extreme cognitive dissonance.

Also yeah they've all eaten so much propoganda that the fact that we don't really have a far right in Ireland never enters their head.

As much as it is criticised, I think the phrase "Ah sure, it'll be grand" is actually a positive summation of our attitude to most things. Living in France and previous experience in some other European countries has made me realise that certain nationalities tend to take things a lot more seriously than us. And while that may be a huge bonus in terms of getting shit done right, it does act as a bit of a downer in other aspects of life; everything is always a huge deal that requires 100% commitment and energy, when in fact the same results could be achieved with a far lower level of concern and engagement.

True. I'd never say that "we always look on the bright side of life" because that is patently untrue. However, as you implied, we do have a sort of twisted optimism that things will pan out okay based on the understanding that we have very little control over anything in the first place. What confuses me is why that understanding resulted in laissez-faire optimsm rather than an overbearing pessimism?

Back when I used to drink more, I would have been in the same boat. But in the past 6 months I've only spent about €25 on drink.

The car is only real thing that costs me much money. I spend all I want on games but only have so much time to play them.

Don't want to order a new one from France though. I should have done it when I was home at Christmas time. Now I'm fairly limited in terms of what I can play on decent settings.

Between PS+, hd collections and games going on sale for under €10 its not even expensive to play on consoles anymore.

The companies I have experience dealing with in the past for PC parts are based in the UK. Some of them won't ship to France, whereas others charge rather significant shipping fees to the continent.

>>73880371
I already have an XB1 though. Not exactly my wisest investment, but I'm sure as hell not gonna double down on a PS4 now.

Just buy a graphics card from Amazon UK/FR/DE? Free shipping and Amazon is typically just as cheap as tech retailers such as Overclockers.

What made you guys think that was a good idea?
Avoiding a PS4 only compounds the error, it's turning into a very strong generation if you're into Japanese games.

While that is true in this generation, I will always own a console despite the fact that I've been drifting more and more towards PC gaming in recent years. I like being able to just switch on my XB1 and play either current gen or previous gen games almost instantly (Xbox updates are nowhere near as frequent as Playstation ones). While a lot of the "plug in and play" aspect of console gaming has been lost, it's still more straightforward than PC gaming. I like the certainty with a console that it will be able to play any game I buy for it, whereas you only have that certainty with a PC if you have really high-end gear.

>What made you guys think that was a good idea?
Halo. Also I have an extensive 360 library and my 360 was giving me trouble, so I wanted to maintain a means of playing those games.

>Avoiding a PS4 only compounds the error

True. I considered buying one for Nier Automata, but apparently it only runs well on the PS4 Pro (as with many other of the best games on the console from what I hear).

All the Ps4's were sold out but I had a great time at the beginning but then I built a new PC and now I hardly ever use my Xbox.
And I really don't play much gook games

I've played through Nier on all endings and haven't had any major performance issues with it. Same with Persona 5, Horizon and Final Fantasy XV as well. The only game I felt suffered from performance issues outside of the usual was The Last Guardian and I'm not sure how much better that is on Pro.
The Pro is only out a few months remember so the number of games that are even patched to use its advantages is tiny, though if you were thinking of buying a new one why would you not buy the Pro instead of the Slim?

I'm not paying the price demanded by the Pro for a console that wpuld be my tertiary gaming machine.

This is the fastest kind of propulsion we will ever get with our current knowledge in physics, 0,3c is possible if you don't have to pack enough fuel to slow down.
