>the falkands are rightfully British
But..
>the monroe doctrine

The Argies attacked us, not the other way around
Its fine as long as they don't try to expland; they've had plenty of territory over here since the Monroe doctrine
>>73767931
monroe doctrine was about expansion was it not?
either way we were defending our people and territory, there's a difference
>>73768336
Yeah, but it would be daft to think the US wouldn't favour decolonisation at any possible opportunity for obvious reasons.
>>73768336
As far as i know, the Monroe doctrine was about the US 'protecting' american nations from european intervention
The expansionist idea was the Manifest Destiny

It started as the idea that America would be like a big brother to the newly independent nations of the Americas , protecting them from European nations meddling or reconquering
It fradually degenerated to "the Americas are our informal empire and we can do wha ever we want in the name of """protecting""" them, even if it's from themselves." See: Operation Condor among other things.
Under this principle I don't really think the Falklands is applicable. And while America loves decolonising european powers, I don't see how damaging relations with and denying your greatest ally/vassal a little naval base in the South Atlantic, one that I'm sure America itself could also make use of should it wish, all for the benefit of a country which is largely irrelevant (no offence Argie lads) is in Americas best interest.
