I can't imagine anyone in the current decade having a boards.ie account. Though you have reminded me that when I was a kid I put way too much personal information on a forum account, I seriously had my full name and address. God I was stupid.

It was more to try and see someone who used it in the past and put a load of personal information on it like you said. There still seems to be some active users there, but not as many as there was.

I'm going to be honest lads, I don't like the colours of the flag. It's not the colours themselves but rather the dull shades of green and orange stated by the Irish government. I'm sure it's something to do with looking nicer as an actual flag in the wind but on a screen they just look faded.

No. I'm fine with the orange too as I think replacing it with gold looks too light, like it fades into the white.
I'm talking about the specific shade of orange and green used.

I like tricolours, but that might be due to my love of clean cut shapes and colours.

Basically, asking questions lets you choose the battleground. You put the person at a disadvantage of having to explain some specific part of their argument, then you hold them to whatever part of their argument you want and dominate them.

Why do people still think de Valera was a good leader? If he had just accepted the conditions of the Irish Free State as per Collins' negototiations with the Brits (which he claimed he would if the Dail voted for it, but when it did he cowardly backed his way out), there wouldn't have been thousands of casualties as well as a lingering conflict in the North. de Valera was a fuckwit and a cheat.

de Valera created a precedent of violence in order to protest legitimate political action, which was deliberately followed upon in the Troubles. Granted, you could argue Collins did the same (12 Apostles etc.) but Collins was willing to bury the hatchet if it meant legitimate change for Irish independence.

>>73652714
1) thats total bullshit
2) the northern irish state is totally illegitimate and undemocratic, and violent action against it was justified.

>terror and crime
saxon propaganda.
fun fact: the troubles started because the prods couldn't help but kill catholic women and children, the british army intervened, and the brits couldn't keep themselves from killing irish civillians.
the PIRA campaign against the british was a justified response to the terror that was imposed on the irish people by the unionist government.

Again. You're implying the use of force against British security is a legitimate means to secure Northern Irish unification. Even if you're going to act like the behavior of the Unionist paramilitaries is a legitimate casus belli for the IRA to act like hooligans, the notion that the Northern Irish government aren't the legitimate sovereigns of the land for the time being is ludicrous. The same faulty logic is used to justify other thuggish separatism like the Basques in Spain and the Xinjiang terrorists in China.

No, they shouldn't have bombed and killed civilians. That behavior is the mark of undeveloped societies (see South Sudan). There was clearly a diplomatic solution (see the Anglo-Irish Treaty) which could have produced a solution that was beneficial for both sides, but the neo-IRA act like savages and shit the bed for everybody involved. I'm not acting like the Ulster loyalists are civilized either but the 'he-started-it' argument does not justify open conflict

I agree. But I believe that there are differing views of what it means to be traditionally masculine in this general.

For the record, I don't view myself as fully traditionally masculine. I have failings that exclude me from that. But that doesn't mean I view traditional masculinity as a bad thing. However, I disagree with the assertion that engaging in pointless fighting is inherent to traditional masculinity. Because it's so incredibly stupid, so unless you consider masculinity to be a stupid concept, I don't see why you'd consider knacker fighting to be an inherent part of it.

Let me explain to you Muslims and Christians why you have no future. Both aspects of your Abrahamic cult is based on the love and veneration of human slaughter. Like this sick Good Friday fiasco today and so on. The Koran is filled with stories of the same sacrifice and murder to achieve salvation. At the heart of it all is the flagellation and the intolerance.
We Pagans and Heathens do not attain salvation in oceans of blood and mountains of sufferning and atonement.
We know that flowers will bloom, cosmic bodies will move across the sky, that children will be born and sun follows rain and rain makes food.
This is why you are horrible and we want you and your "love," away from us.

In Ireland, the second most important political position is that of Attorney General. It is basically the king of all the courts and the entire legal system. The guardian of the Constitution. It was held by non other than Peter Sutherland at one point.

Now what if I told you that in 1978 while looking for a serial killer, the Irish police found him in bed with the then Attorney General?

It actually happened. Now you would think that the said individual would have a major Wikipedia page with all the history of the cases and so on. After all he was an extremely important person connected to many of the top figures not only in Irish establishment, but around the world. He was also a guest of Jimmy Savile when Savile visited Dublin.

So he must have a huge wiki page right?

Why do you consider them failings?

>Because it's so incredibly stupid, so unless you consider masculinity to be a stupid concept, I don't see why you'd consider knacker fighting to be an inherent part of it.
Knacker fighting, bar fighting, sports fans brawling. All fighting is pointless other than self defence. Elements of traditional masculinity are incredibly stupid and you can see it manifest here as you're labelled "passive", "bitch", "gay", "coward" and a woman for having the intelligence and wherewithal to not be so braindead as to let anger or pride cause irrational and dangerous actions. I'm sure it's not the first time in your life you've encountered sentiment like that either.
It's great you're smart enough to see the failings but it's a pity you still choose to defend it and allow people like those above define masculinity.
>>

not issues, personal as in they happen in a 'personal' capacity rather than just because I live in this area, if that makes sense

I don't see why they wouldn't happen in yours and everyone else's, sometimes situations get out of hand as a fault of either the people you do encounter or even of yourself if you've the tendency, which you and many others here admittedly don't, but the latter aside the former should still happen often, it's unavoidable if you aren't a shut in NEET 24/7 really

They're not so significant that that I would consider them failings if I lived in a bubble. But my failure to meet certain male requirements that might be expected of me by my parents or society does confer an aura of failure upon me. Not that it particularly bothers me though - I've never been one to live up to the expectations of others.

>It's great you're smart enough to see the failings but it's a pity you still choose to defend it and allow people like those above define masculinity.
But I'm not - I've actively railed against those in this thread who consider braindead fighting do be a key component of masculinity. It doesn't factor in to what I consider traditional masculinity. But at the same time I think that the idea of "toxic masculinity" is a meme.

While there are elements to the broad strokes of accepted masculinity that do indeed have a negative effect on men, in my experience, anybody who uses the term "toxic masculinity" employs it as a means of supporting the notion that there should be no definition of what is means to be masculine (regardless of how flexible that definition may be). They assert that a man should be able to act in any way he wishes yet be viewed as equally "masculine" (for want of a better term) as any other man. Personally I don't agree with the liberalisation of masculinity like that as it removes important standards that any decent man should hold himself to.

So yes, there may be some truth to the concept of Toxic masculinity, but I will never be associated with it due to the purpose it serves those with an agenda.

>but they are quite effective in muslim countries where you have radically different religious groups
It works better if the leader doesn't want to push for an Islamic state which Erdogan wants, he's not like Assad where all the groups would at least be protected and had no intention of creating an Islamic state. Turkey has always been a bit of a mess but at least they used to have the army who would come in and take over if the state strayed from being the secular state it was made to be around 1920, if someone wanted to push one religious group before the military would take over until a new leader was elected. Erdogan got rid of that check with the "uprising" last year which was to get people who weren't on his side in the military to show their allegiance, he then got rid of them to remove anyone who could harm him in the future. Turkey is just going to get worse with this.

That comes from Saudi Arabia, Israel and the other countries in that part of the world who would become more dominant there if an independent Kurdistan existed, as that would weaken Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran.

A lot of the groups in that area are the same though, radical Islamists are just as bad if not worse, but the whole freedom figher thing is played up to give sympathy to their independence movement.

Seems normal enough.

Oh wait it's weirder than I remember.
>the Nazis considered the Sioux, and by extension all Native Americans to be Aryans, a theory echoed in the sympathetic portrayal of the Natives in German westerns of the 1930s such as Der Kaiser von Kalifornien. Nazi propagandists went as far as declaring that Germany would return expropriated land to the Indians, while Goebbels predicted they possessed little loyalty to America and would rather rebel than fight against Germany. As a boy, Hitler had been an enthusiastic reader of Karl May westerns and he told Albert Speer that he still turned to them for inspiration as an adult when he was in a tight spot; the Karl May westerns contained highly sympathetic portrayals of American Indians.

Let's call a spade a spade; post-recession FF won't take a stance on an issue unless they absolutely have to, and when they do take that stance, you can be sure it will come down on the side of the opinion perceived to be held by the majority of the electorate. They're terrified of rocking the boat as they rebuild their party and voterbase. Martin has been successful in bringing FF back from the brink by exerting an iron grip on the party and ensuring that the views of party members on big issues don't stand in the way of him being Taoiseach one day. And most FF TDs are all too willing to go along with this strategy for now as it is producing results.
>>
>>73676278
Indeed. One party state when?
>>
>>73676269
They were very reluctant supporters of gay marriage to the point where averil power left over it. I think their religious supporters accept their fence sitting on abortion as suitable opposition knowing that a vocal opposition would kill the parties future among the youth. All about party survival first in this country, FF and FG supporters seem to care very little what their politicians say so long as they believe they support their views behind closed doors.

Their fence sitting over water charges only to slowly slip over the one side once it became safe to do so was embarrassing, especially when you consider it was their parties idea to begin with. At the end of the day nothing would have happened on that front from FF if it wasn't from the pressure created by Paul Murphy.

It's a pity we have such see-saw politics between two parties where the second merely has to focus on surviving and not upsetting anyone to get back in power by default. SF will never break that until they have the cop on to ditch Gerry Adams and distance themselves from their IRA past.

Independents can be a mix of anything, there's a load of socialist independents who aren't in SF or Solidarity/PBP, even the Soc Dems and Labour to an extent for some reason, and then you have some like Stephen Donnelly a few ago before he joined a party, Michael Fitzmaurice and Shane Ross who don't really belong anywhere and would generally be fairly right wing economically and socially. They all get tarred with the same brush of road fixers because of the Healy Raes and Lowry. Renua are effectively completely dead now too.

That's them in action where they don't want to be too in favour in anything to lose votes, they would have campaigned in Dublin for gay marriage but unlikely to have put as much of an effort somewhere like Donegal to try and appeal to the majority in an area. Power also left more for the reason that she wanted a free run in her constituency in Dublin Bay North, but the party decided to add Sean Haughey to run too, that's the main reason she left, now she's a CEO in some charity leeching off the state.

Was reading this piece earlier which was suggesting that FF TDs were getting somewhat frustrated with Martin over water. Martin shares a four seater constituency with Coveney and McGrath (a "potential future leader of FF"), and some viewed him siding with SF on water as a potential way to fuck Coveneys chances of becoming leader of FG. So basically using party policy for his own benefit.

Yeah, I do not understand why they did that at all. It's not in line with their strategy since Martin took over. The only reason for it that I can think of is that FF have reason to believe that a general election is close and are trying to weaken FG before they call quits on the government. But even that seems unlikely.

>>73677136
>SF will never break that until they have the cop on to ditch Gerry Adams and distance themselves from their IRA past.
I feel if they do that they will just drift into being another FF or Labour if Adams goes, they have to be careful not to be like them or they will lose big time in the future here. I think that's the biggest problem they face long term as a party in the Republic anyway.
>>73677285
>Martin shares a four seater constituency with Coveney and McGrath (a "potential future leader of FF"), and some viewed him siding with SF on water as a potential way to fuck Coveneys chances of becoming leader of FG. So basically using party policy for his own benefit.
It's mostly just them trying to appeal to the majority again. It's unlikely but we're due a constituency review and we have to add two seats, they could throw another seat in that constituency by bringing back Ballincollig into Cork South Central which currently votes with rural Northwest Cork, although you then might have to make a 5 seater Cork West which would be geographically large. They're supposed to be independent but they throw in seats to benefit certain parties and politicians, as they're all high profile they might get an extra seat, one area that's almost certainly getting a seat is North Dublin around Bertie's old stomping ground possibly to get a FF seat there again.
>>73677606
>Martin shares a four seater constituency with Coveney and McGrath (a "potential future leader of FF"), and some viewed him siding with SF on water as a potential way to fuck Coveneys chances of becoming leader of FG.
I don't think they do want an election, they want FG to deal with a load of shit happening this year to reduce their popularity and the independents in government before they pull the plug, but they might think it's close. They also have to get 60+ to have a coalition with Labour/Greens/Indos alone or go with SF, being propped up by FG won't help FF.

I saw luxbro at a grocery store in Oesling yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a Luxemborgese word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Scotland, but near the south
I figure that if I'm going to be worthless and not manage to go outside or to college without pissing myself I could at least try and do something constructive
And my wee brother's got two languages going and he's really good at them so I feel like a right berk being worse than him at it
Not even worst just not even trying
get the regions addon for int you meme it makes talking to british much easier

Yeah, I'm size 11 and 6'2ish. It's kind of noticable when I put shoes on since I have to have thick ones or my feet freeze to fuck, so *shrug

I'll have a think about it. Not sure I like giving my IP to the a 4chan user (the developer).

Think I might pick up a pair of fresh runners tomorrow lads

Recommendations?

I'd imagine it has more to do with distinguishing yourself from SF and clearly stating the intent of the party

You doss cunt, it asks you to set your region as a cookie. It's clientside
I think
>>
>>73680256
My understanding of it is that I send my region flag to the developers server and then you check the server each time the thread refreshes to check my flag. I'm a software dev and that's how I would imagine it works, but I haven't really gone through the script much.
