In all fairness, I sometimes correct the grammar of native speakers of languages I've learned, but they're languages I've been speaking for years, not for a couple months.

That's not really surprising if you don't speak the language as much as they do.
I know before living in the US I never made that mistake but sometimes it happens to me. It's just a matter of not reading yourself tho.
