Learning new frameworks/programming languages and making something to show I learned that framework. One example, a weather app with graphs and charts. There are tons of weather apps but it shows you can actually make something and that you've put time into learning new tech and they can even look at the code if they want (95% chance they won't bother anyway). Another example is I'm forking a project one former co-worker made to work with a new framework.

I also made a portfolio site with screenshots and info of my projects, both professional and personal, but only one person has ever mentioned looking at it so I assume even fewer actually check out those projects you're supposed to be doing when you're not employed. It's basically a more informative and digestible alternative to a resume but no one seems to care.

I've tried going to a therapist. I just don't like talking about myself. I've tried several different medications, I eat healthy, meditate, exercise, etc. That all helps but my baseline level of depression and anxiety was so severe to begin with that it's better but I still feel it. The only thing that seemed to help was getting my part-time independent contractor job for a year and feeling independent and like I had a purpose. Now that's gone and in its place is this despair and anxiety over not being able to find a job, especially since my 26th birthday is in a few months which means my parents' insurance won't cover me or my medication that keeps me at a medium level of depression and anxiety rather than the crippling level it was years ago.

Anyway, enough of my whining. I hope things work out for you anon. Maybe we'll both be suddenly cured.
