Some family friends moved to canada. They both had higher education in chemistry but only the husband could find a pizza delivery job. proper jobs are impossible to find. Now they have to feed themselves and their soon with a pizza job

I also have a friend who lives In the US but comes to Bulgaria every few years or so to visit relatives. From what I heard her father was a truck driver and was doing well, even bought another house to rent out for extra income. Then one day he had a heart attack or something and had to pay like 500 000 to million dollars, can't remember the exact figure, in healthcare bills and he had to sell his rig and the other house to pay them. Now his leg is fucked and can't drive anymore nor find a job so his wife works at a diner place to feed the family. He planned on sending my friend to college but she now has to stay to help pay the bills.

Honestly the first state I'd recommend is Wyoming as well. Wide open ranges and largely friendly people outside of the injuns but they mostly stick to reservations.
But that's every "fly over" state; close knit communities and the last bastion of family values. I don't know why people go to giant cities with larger populations than their own country and then whine every asshole off the street isn't nice.
