Despite these semi-sarcastic complaints about the water, I've found restaurants in Berlin to be quite good, and not nearly as expensive as they are in New York, although everything in New York is very expensive. Except water.

One strange thing I have noticed in Berlin is that a lot of rooms have the light switch on the OUTSIDE of the room, which seems strange to me. It is this way in the flat we are renting, and also in the flat my brother is living in (for 6 months), and also my cousin's in Copenhagen. Perhaps this is a common european preference.

Very backwards.
Having to pay for water in berlin makes encourages people to order soft drinks or beer constantly. In NYC you get a glass lf water free without even asking so you often don't order another drink
