I keep telling you people: Brits never LOST. Germany and Japan suffered an unambiguous defeat and decades of humiliation. UK avoided that, their empire just sort of ceased to be over time and no foreign power invaded and occupied the country and treated brits like subhumans not worthy of civilisation. They got away with it, and are still getting away with it. Lucky circumstances placed UK in a position where it could look like an underdog and have powerful allies preventing other powers from taking revenge on it.
