Hey /int/, when did you realize that the only way to prevent a Permian level greenhouse extinction caused by anthropogenic climate change is rapid population degrowth through a limited nuclear exchange and the deployment of potent bioweapons, crashing the global economy and preempting the release of methane hydrates?

>"These emissions are prone to be non-gradual (massive, abrupt) for a variety of reasons," she told Truthout. "The main reason is that the nature of major processes associated with methane releases from subsea permafrost is non-gradual."

>Shakhova warned that a 50-gigaton -- that is, 50-billion-ton -- "burp" of methane from thawing Arctic permafrost beneath the ESAS is "highly possible at any time."

>Based on measurements of gases trapped in biogenic and abiogenic calcite, the release of methane (of ∼3–14% of total C stored) from permafrost and shelf sediment methane hydrate is deemed the ultimate source and cause for the dramatic life-changing global warming (GMAT > 34 °C) and oceanic negative-carbon isotope excursion observed at the end Permian. Global warming triggered by the massive release of carbon dioxide may be catastrophic, but the release of methane from hydrate may be apocalyptic. The end Permian holds an important lesson for humanity regarding the issue it faces today with greenhouse gas emissions, global warming, and climate change.

Nothing matters mate. The world would die without us too. Everything is changing, if you want it or not. It's just about realizing quickly enough how to get off this planet and spread humankind to other worlds. Else we will die like every other organism.

lmao Earth is 6000 years old you dumbfuck

Thanks for the frog

we're about a millennium from effective space colonization, dumbass
you better start giving a shit

American tinfoilers can't even do global warming without resorting to dramatic instant catastrophe scenes and bullshit science.

Jesus fuck.

There is a breaking point when you are not able to go to space anymore, if the planet's resources are exhausted. And we are coming closer and closer to this one. If you waste time, you waste precious resources. Trying to grow back and trying to prevent the inevitable, the world from "dying", wont bring you anywhere. It's like putting the signature under your suicidal certificate. If not earth dies, the sun will burn down aswell.

Also, you have no idea how fast earth could be wiped out by a random event, like a solar storm. And all your effort would be for nothing.

It will burn out in about 5 billion years

I gave this as example, that nothing lives forever. Trying to sustain a temporary condition is stupidity.

Also why we should hurry up. And it's not a matter of 1000 years.

Minerals projected by some to enter production decline during the next 20 years:

Gas (2023)[7]
Copper (2024).[8] Data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) suggest that it is very unlikely that copper production will peak before 2040.[5]
Zinc[9] Developments in hydrometallurgy have transformed non-sulphide zinc deposits (largely ignored until now) into large low cost reserves.[10][11]

Minerals projected by some to enter production decline during the present century:

Aluminium (2057)[8]
Coal (2060)[8]
Iron (2068)[8]
