People in cities do talk and interact with each other and know their neighbors. The rude, cold, distant urbanite is a meme. Maybe while people are commuting to and from work or school but it's not like that at any other time.

Yes we could run to a close by store and pick up our own sugar but plenty of people still borrow sugar, oil, tools, time and space from their neighbors when they're in a pinch.

When something happens in my neighborhood we all keep an eye out for each other.
