I've been to favelas in Sao Paulo and it was just like any other place I've been in Europe. People are friendly and I never had any issues. The locals take really good care of you and the food was amazing.

I must add that there were many white Brazilians also living in favelas but the majority are obviously mixed.

Favelas are even more dangerous if you are white or yellow. The population there practically is composed by browns and blacks. The poor whites and yellows generally live in the rural areas.

I like visiting poor countries and walking around patting my belly lel. When I visited Brazil I made a point to walk around a slum village whilst loduly eating a bag of crisps, dropping crisps on purpose over the floor to show those poor fucks that I can afford to waste all the food I want.

In India I bought as much street food from the poor vendors as possible so they didn't have any left for the locals then threw half of it into a river because I wanted to have McDonalds instead.
