At school we learn about Dutch and French art mainly
>>72676650
Also we learn about a lot of Italian and German art
Not once have I ever been taught about an English artist in my school years

There is no country in Europe by that name
>>72677012

Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan, Vermeer, etc.
But also small names with familiar paintings like Escher.

In the Netherlands Jan Steen is also quite popular. And of course the many paintings of battles.
In France they painted nobles, but in the Netherlands they painted regular people. Because that's what mattered more to us. And that wasn't very common in Europe during that time period.
