I went to a pub for St Patrick's Day yesterday. I'll tell you: there are heaps of Irish/British immigrants and many people are descended from them. In other words they've been celebrated it from their ancestors for so long, that it becomes just another celebration that everyone participates in. I saw chinks and SEAs in the pub I was in la. It's just something that's embedded, that a lot of people do. Often actual Irish people set things up/participate too.
