How has Argentina been able to retain more of its Italian influence than we Italian Americans have?

Enough Italians emigrated to Argentina, so they had the same role of "staple culture" as German or Irish immigrants in the USA

They went bankrupt. That's very Italian.
>>72409606
The US has a shitload of Italian influence. Look at New York, New Jersey, Chicago, etc.
>>72410029
don't the vast majority of argies have atleast one italian grandparent
>>72410615
yes. but the question is stupid.
Italians Americans are a minority. In Argentina there is no Italian Argentine concept because they are super normal and average. Ginobili, Messi and the Pope are just regular Argentines.
And we dont feel particularly close to Italy. When we had a huge economic crisis in 2001-2002 many Argentines emmigrated to Spain with Italian EU passports because they only knew Spanish.
It is true that Italian food is much more staple here, and Argentines know who Raffaella Carra is while Americans dont, but we arent really close culturally to Italy. Spain is la madre patria, and the offspring of italian immigrants often only spoke Spanish.

I only know one guy from Argentina. He's helping my dad at church. t b h he doesn't seem too radically different from the rest of the Hispanic people I know aside from the accent.

That's how I always interpreted it too.
>America
Founded by Anglos, settled by Anglos, German and Irish people. Italians had some presence.
>Argentina
Founded by Spaniards, settled by Spaniards, Italians and Basques. Germans had some presence.
But dunno, maybe I'm just making shit up.
>>72418563
>implying Irish aren't Catholic Anglos
>>72418452
Oh so THEY get to be Italian
but when an Italian American does it, they're not.
>>72418647
And Basques are Spaniards with cavemanspeak as their main language. I was just being pragmatic because both groups are considered special snowflakes.
