They do not have the idea of a family legacy. In here even the smallest and cheapest houses are build of brick with reinforced concrete foundations. The idea is this will be going down the line to ones children and thus must be sturdy enough to survive for generations. In USA it is expected of you to move out and eventually to inherit termite ridden plot of land with decaying cardboard box on top after your parents die. Buildings are not created to last.
