Why did jap pop culture become so damn popular outside of japan?
Looking for non-meme replies that are 2 legit 2 quit, dumb weebs with dumb replies are not permitted within my thread.
aside from anime and pop music not really
when was the last time you know someone bought a played pachinko watched j-drama bought tatami mat or even folded an origami
consumerism is not culture, music anime and manga are media imports
of the top of your head you know more foreign non-japanese tv shows than live-action japanese tv shows because japan dominates anime-manga-jpop category, not because they are good at exporting pop culture
ie, they are their own niche industry

Multiple reasons. Largely the art style, and how attractive it makes the characters to most people.
Secondly the writing is better than most all Western cartoons, and a lot of older anime writing is comparable to great films, Ghost in the Shell got praise from James Cameron even.
Nowadays it still retains the entrancement of the art style, despite it having changed significantly, and while the plots for shows are rinse and repeat, the characters are written in enjoyable and relatable ways often times, and a stronger connection to the characters leads to a stronger connection to the show.
Hope this helps

>when was the last time you know someone bought a played pachinko watched j-drama bought tatami mat or even folded an origami
you still know all these things
you don't know the equivalent of these for the Czech Republic, Norway, or Kazakstan (as in, lower-level culture)

>good animation
mate have you seen anime? unless it's 90s or some early 2000s or in very rare cases when it's not about pumping out absolute trite (usually this is when an anime has a more unique art style too) then the animation is complete shit. Lot's of movement is literally passed off on some dramatic images with a slight upwards or sideways pan. It's horrible.
I agree with the other shit though.
because their culture is exotic and highly developed.
