I dunno how it works in Canada, but here in the US if you have a chronic condition that requires medication and you can't afford it, you can usually call the company that produces the drug and request a discount directly from them. Basically, no one who knows what they're doing pays full price for drugs out of pocket - you either have it covered under your insurance or you get a voucher from the manufacturer.
