What do you think of "double" megacities, /int/? In other words, urban areas with at least 20 million people? Megacities are becoming more common, but double-megacities are still not AS common, although there are more of them as time goes on.

How big is new york, in size I mean.
How many Km are here
>>71994342
Probably 16 or 17km in that image.
>tfw I come from a small town of about 5000 people
>went to NYC
I really don't understand how people can voluntarily live like that. Quality of life is shit there, but people probably don't know anything else and believe all people have to live in rat cages like they do.

Hm, I read 20 city blocks were a mile(1.6km I think)
It didn't seem that big

Jobs

The NYC region is not actually that dense by megacity standards. A lot of the surrounding area is suburban.
>>71994742
Yeah. And they desperately need those jobs to afford the $2-3000 rent for their tiny old appartment...
>>71994812
Living there is probably a lot comfier, but commuting into the city must be nightmare. As far as I remember traffic was very dense during any time of the day, metro was always packed as well.

Northern Manhattan goes to 216th Street, I think.

Moscow is 30km in diameter.

You can have roommates or get an apartment voucher like most people who live there do.
>>71995164
A lot of NYC apartments are small and shitty for the price. The buildings are often old and suffer from infestations of bedbugs, rats, roaches, etc. And they have ancient heating/electrical/water systems that break all the time.
Here people tend to live in small cities and small villages all across the country.
This gives the feeling that everyone lives in a small town, while it's in fact one gigantic city with lots of green in between.
So I'm a bit biased, but I wouldn't want to live in a huge city.

What do Dutch people think of the Rhine-Ruhr? It's kind of like the Randstad, except... uglier, I guess.

I don't know how it is in Austria, but in France it is hard to fnd some job outside of Paris.
>>71994894
It must be hell living in a city so big and so populated.
I looked up New York and it's almost 4 times bigger than Montevideo
>>71995026
Everything in your country is big Ivan
I also looked Moscow up and it's 12 times bigger than Montevideo
Not to mention that only half of Mdeo is populated while there's no more space in New York.

>>71995696
no, it's not
if you're good enough, you get the job
simple as that
>>71995164
but renting is shit in generell. take a job where you can buy a house. you pay it off slowly its almost like renting. but in the end you own the damn thing.
