Nobody considers Belarus a real country. It's just some soviet kolkhoz.
>>71986999
I had a friend from Belarus as a kid. 98% of the time he talked about how the collapse of the Soviet Union was a mistake. 2% of the time he talked about how Russia did a couple bad things to the environment in Belarus for which they shouldn't like Russia that much. He still loved Russia tho.

Memes aside, it actually does have its own language that though similar is not the same as Russian, albeit rarely spoken.
>>71987471
Early soviet lingo-geographical experiment, same as Ukraine.

As far as i know, it is yet another country dialect that people are trying to upgrade to real language
To elaborate: majority of words look and sound like broken russian, changed to be different from russian for difference's sake. Something like taking local pronunciation and transcribing it into official written variant - as the result, even inflections are inconsistent
It is even worse in so-called Ukrainian
Or so i heard. Maybe i have read too much russian nationalists, heh

I think that's it. If you think the languages are made up-dialects, though, you might be onto something. There's plenty of countries where dialects can differ more than a neighboring country's mainstream language. I have a harder time understanding some Norwegian dialects than I have with Swedish.

Believe it or not, but Belarus used to be pretty civilized under Pooland.
It became shitbucket under Russian Empire, Bolshevik Russia and during Nazi regime, which genocided a huge number of Belarusians.
Also the name in English is wrong. It's White Rus, not White Russia.

I would like to know what the best way to move around Belarus is, and if there's any company like Lux Express that has buses to other countries as well
