The original flag was red, white and blue. The pirates who pretty much started our revolution used orange to show their support to William of Orange. But that was only used during our war with Spain.

During WW2 the Nazi's did use orange, white and red. Which did taint that flag a bit. But our real flag is still red white and blue.

It's mostly for diplomatic reasons. We have one of the most deployed nato armies. So we can win favours.
The only real threat is Venezuela, who could try to take our carribean Islands. But those Islands are also under American protection.

Most of your points are pretty logical. People call us Holland because back in the day it was the only relevent province (it still is). We are called Dutch by the Anglos other lanuages do a better job at this one. Our national color is orange because the guy who first formed and fought for our country his sirname was orange. The red part of our flag used to be orange. We called New zealand Nieuw Zeeland its just spelling. And our queen is Arentine yea so what. At least she is white :^)
